Desperation During Hiring Process

September 29th, 2014

HR employees need to be aware of their mindset going into a hiring situation. While employees can come across as desperate for a job, so can employers. That is when hiring mistakes are likely to occur. Taking your time to find the right employee who fits all the check boxes should be the goal and not filling a seat as soon as possible.

Yes, desperation can lead to hiring mistakes, but, more often, desperation guarantees mistakes will be made. Being desperate to hire someone is like going to the grocery store after you havent eaten for the last three days. Everything will look delicious — even foods you dont normally like.

When youre hungry to hire someone, youll be more prone than usual to make the mistake of hiring a person who is a great applicant, but who will not be a great employee.
